Plantar Fasciitis: Do You Think You Have One?

Plantar fasciitis is a bit of a mouthful, and it's also a pain in the foot. This condition the band of tissue that runs along the bottom of the foot, becomes inflamed. The plantar fascia supports the arch of the foot, so when it's irritated, it can cause heel pain or discomfort in the arch.

There are a few telltale signs that you might be dealing with plantar fasciitis. First, you'll probably feel pain in your heel or arch when you first get out of bed in the morning. The pain may ease as you start to walk around, but it will likely come back after extended periods of standing or walking.

You may also notice that the pain is worse after exercise. If you suspect that you have plantar fasciitis, talk to your doctor. He or she can diagnose the condition and recommend treatment options. With proper care, plantar fasciitis usually goes away within a few months.
